Newly released  DVD Movies Review : Top Antonio Banderas MoviesTop Robin Williams Comedy Movies List | 2015 New Disney Movies Reviews | Best Summer Movies 2015

Part 1: Must-Watch Thanksgiving Movies to Watch with Kids

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1965)

What would a holiday celebration be without a Peanuts TV special to watch together after the festivities? This Emmy-winning episode is particularly adorable, combining all the Thanksgiving essentials: Football (or Charlie Brown’s pitiful attempt at it), delicious meals and, of course, a bit of bickering. The youngsters try to whip up a meal of their own, but Peppermint Patty is less than impressed with the menu of buttered toast, popcorn and jellybeans. Rated G.

Free Birds (2013)

Reggie (Owen Wilson) is the smartest gobbler in his flock. He knows his fellow turkeys are being fattened up for human consumption come Thanksgiving, though his dimwitted brethren are happily ignorant. Fortunately, fate puts our hero in the path of a muscular birdbrain (Woody Harrelson) with a magic doorknob that leads the duo to a time machine, which takes them back to the very first Thanksgiving. Rated PG.

Grumpy Old Men (1993)

An elderly pair of feuding neighbors who’ve delighted in insulting one another for five decades come to blows when they spot their attractive new neighbor on Thanksgiving Day. Ariel (Ann-Margret) becomes a love interest for both John (Jack Lemmon) and Max (Walter Matthau), intensifying the rivalry to hilarious effect—but when Max finds out that John is having some personal struggles and John has a health scare, the strength of their bond shines through. Rated PG-13.

The New World (2005)

This live-action take on the story of Pocahontas and the settlement of Jamestown, Virginia gives viewers a peek into the period when the first Thanksgiving took place. When English settlers come ashore on strange, new land, they begin to set up a colony in the “New World” to the dismay of the Native Americans who call it home. Captain John Smith (Colin Farrell) is captured and brought to Chief Powhatan, the father of young Pocahontas (Q’orianka Kilcher). Families will love the beautiful landscapes, celebrity appearances (look out for Christopher Plummer and Christian Bale) and the blossoming love story. Rated PG-13.

Son-in-Law (1993)

Stand-up comic, Pauly Shore, plays a geek called Crawl in this teen comedy that dramatizes one college student's homecoming over Thanksgiving break. After meeting innocent Rebecca at school in LA, Crawl gives her an edgy makeover and the two become fast friends. Rebecca shocks her farm-dwelling family when she brings her flamboyant friend (posing as her fiancĂ©) home to South Dakota for the holiday. The city boy definitely doesn’t fit in, but the locals (and Rebecca) might warm up to his wacky ways more than they expect. Watch out for some sexual innuendo that may not be appropriate for youngsters, but this goofy flick will get everyone giggling. Rated PG-13.

Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

Sure, this is as classic a Christmas film as they come, but its jumping-off point is none other than the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in NYC! When Santa Claus gets tipsy before his annual ride on the parade float, he gets the boot—but his bearded replacement, Kris Kringle, be the real deal? His commitment to the job has all the kids in awe and sets off a media firestorm that ends up in a court of law. What a perfect way to close out Turkey Day and get the kids excited for Santa's visit! Rated G.

Dutch (1991)

To get to know his girlfriend’s son, blue-collar guy, Dutch (Ed O’Neill), offers to pick Doyle up from school in Atlanta to bring him home for Thanksgiving dinner in Chicago. The preppy kid turns out to be a piece of work, but a few mishaps during their cross-country journey, including a fireworks display gone wrong and run-ins with some interesting characters, end up bringing the two together. Rated PG-13.

Addams Family Values (1993)

When Gomez and Morticia welcome a son, Pubert, into their slightly disturbed family, jealous siblings Pugsley and Wednesday (a wonderfully devious Christina Ricci) plot to do away with the bundle of joy and are sent away to summer camp. Though this flick doesn’t take place during Turkey Day, the scene in which Wednesday hijack’s Camp Chippewas’s musical rendition of the first Thanksgiving is reason enough to watch. When the indigenous Americans (played by the outcast campers) revolt against the pilgrims, your whole gang will be delighted. Rated PG-13.

The Blind Side (2009)

When an African-American boy from a poor neighborhood is taken in by a wealthy Tenneessee woman, life changes for both of them. Thanks to Leigh Anne Touhy (Bullock) and her family, “Big Mike” Oher is given an opportunity to put his athleticism and protective instincts to use on the football field, eventually becoming a first-round NFL draft pick. A Thanksgiving Day scene when Big Mike causes the family to pause and appreciate their meal and one another is particularly touching—one that might even convince your family to flick off the game for a while next year. Rated PG-13.

Home for the Holidays (1995)

This comedy/drama hybrid stars Holly Hunter as Claudia, a down-on-her-luck single mother who returns to her parents’ Baltimore home for a bit of comfort over the holidays. However, her dysfunctional family provides anything but. Her sister Joanne’s attitude and dramatic brother Tommy (Robert Downey Jr.) stir up trouble, and on top of it all, her daughter Kitt (Claire Danes) decides to spend the holiday with her boyfriend. This film is an after-dinner flick for families with kids on the older side, but is sure to draw some laughs. Rated PG-13.

Rip DVD on Windows with Handbrake & DVD Ripper

Here's what we think is the best way to go about ripping DVDs to your computer with the Handbrake and Pavtube DVD Ripper to rip copies of your DVDs into whatever format you like.

Addicted to movies? You can watch video on your tablet, smartphone, or portable media player, of course--but since none of those gadgets have optical drives, you can't put any of your DVDs into them. Or, you might just want to backup your expensive DVD movie collection; another reason might be that your DVD collection is bulging and you want to free up some room in your house (a terabyte hard drive full of movies could save a huge amount of cubic meters in your house). Whatever the reasons why you need copy, you can "rip" that DVD or turn it into a movie file on your computer—to play it wherever you want. Here's how to do it.

Hot Search: HandBrake User Tips | HandBrake Mac Tutorial | Best Settings for Handbrake Video converting |Handbrake for 7.1 TrueHD |

Ripping a movie to your hard drive can seem like a complicated task, but it's actually pretty simple. There are a lot of ways to do it and a lot of different programs out there, but our favorite method uses a program called Handbrake. It's easy to use, it's available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and it'll convert your file into compatible formats for any device, like an iPad or Android phone. The video above should walk you through the process, but you can follow along with these instructions.

With the improvements mentioned above, now you can rip DVD and convert video by Handbrake on Windows 10/8.1/8/7/XP PC conveniently and comfortably, like creating your self-made Handbrake iPhone presets, iPod touch presets, Handbrake iPad profile settings, making custom chapters, as well as rip encrypted DVDs.

Handbrake Tutorial on Windows

* HandBrake 0.10.2 for Windows (64 bit) free download
* HandBrake 0.10.2 for Windows (32 bit) free download
* HandBrake 0.10.2 for Mac free download

Disclaimer: To rip encrypted DVDs, you'll need the DVD43 plug-in, which circumvents the publisher's digital rights management technology. Such procedures currently occupy something of a legal gray area. You probably won't face any legal consequences if you simply rip your legally purchased movie collection for your own use, but we're just going to present the instructions and let you decide for yourself whether to follow the steps. PCWorld is not responsible for any damages that result from this how-to.

Step 3. Now that you have select the DVD that you wish to rip, you need to set a destination folder for the ripped content to be saved in. This can be done by clicking on the browse button on the right hand side of the window.

Despite the hatred, the marchers returned to the bridge two days later in peaceful response. DVD & Blu-ray reviews: From Paddington to James Gandolfini's final film The Drop

Paddington (PG) Paul King DVD/Blu-ray (95mins)

“They will not have forgotten how to treat strangers,” maintains Aunt Lily to Paddington, bound for London with his marmalade sandwiches. Will the natives, Londoners, have forgotten their manners? Most of them, sadly, but not Sally Hawkins’s kind-hearted illustrator, who takes pity on the bear (sweetly voiced by Ben Whishaw), to the annoyance of her uptight husband (Hugh Bonneville) and his easily embarrassed daughter. Her housekeeper (Julie Walters) and son, however, want the furry fellow to stay. A subplot involving Nicole Kidman as a psychotic taxidermist is not as absorbing as the main plot, which is: can a middle-aged bore find a place in his heart for a displaced Peruvian bear? A beautifully scripted children’s film with jarfuls of heart.
****

The Drop (15) Michael R Roskam DVD/Blu-ray (106mins)

Barman Bob (Tom Hardy) is the kind of “softie” who allows an old soak to not pay her bar tab and who rescues injured pitbull puppies from garbage cans. His conniving cousin (James Gandolfini) is a bit harsher in this Dennis Lehane-scripted crime drama. When Bob’s bar, owned by menacing Chechens, is robbed, Bob is charged with tracking down the readies. Martin Scorsese is an obvious influence on this tense, Brooklyn-based movie, with a nuanced performance from the late, great Gandolfini, while Hardy channels Marlon Brando as the mysterious Bob. “Nobody ever sees you coming, do they Bob?”
****

Network (15) Sidney Lumet Blu-ray (121mins)

“I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore,” wails Peter Finch’s depressed newscaster during a live broadcast in Sidney Lumet’s prescient, incensed exploration of TV news and corporate America in 1976. Paddy Chayefsky’s script sizzles with indignation but it’s the acting that compels, particularly from an Oscar-winning Faye Dunaway as cut-throat producer Diana and Ned Beatty’s devilish CEO (“The world is a business”). Network isn’t subtle but it is mad as hell.
****

Rollerball (15) Norman Jewison Blu-ray (125mins)

“Corporate society takes care of everything,” maintains John Houseman’s sinister CEO in Norman Jewison’s satirical exploration of a dystopian future. James Caan convinces as Jonathan E, a gladiator-like star in the brutal world of Rollerball who rebels against an iniquitous system. “They’re afraid of you, Jonathan, all the way to the top, they are...”
***

Two Night Stand (15) Max Nichols DVD/Blu-ray (86mins)

Miles Teller, a less interesting John Cusack lookalike, has a one-night stand with fellow slovenly New Yorker Megan (Analeigh Tipton). She tries to leave his Brooklyn pad in a huff but finds herself snowed in. So we’re stuck with this tedious pair for an uncomfortable, gag-free period of time. It’s supposed to be a romantic comedy, but it fails on both counts. Watch an episode of Girls instead.

Blu-ray /DVD Released - Coming Soon on March 10, 2015

Summary: New DVD and Blu-ray Releases for March 10, 2015

Fox’s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb headlines this slow release week. The second and apparently final sequel to 2006’s family-friendly hit shifts the story to London’s British Museum. The film was a modest success with audiences and, like previous entries in the series, had mixed reviews from critics. I personally found it to be more enjoyable than the first two films, but most of that had to do with being able to see Robin Williams on screen again. Ultimately it’s a film that will predominantly resonate with younger viewers.

Those looking for a little more sophisticated should consider The Liberator, a Venezuelan historical drama about SimĂłn BolĂvar and his role in the Latin American Wars of Independence in the late 18th century. The film was Venezuela’s official entry for the Academy Awards and stars Ă©dgar RamĂrez (Zero Dark Thirty, The Bourne Ultimatum). Or perhaps, The Red Ten, Lifetime’s mini-series based on the Bible inspired novel by Anita Diamant starring Minnie Driver, Morena Baccarin and Rebecca Ferguson.

Horror fans have Late Phases: Night of the Lone Wolf, a grisly drama about a blind Vietnam vet (Nick Damici) who moves into a retirement community plagued by mysterious deaths.

As a huge fan of Ronny Yu’s 1993 The Bride with White Hair (not so much David Wu’s sequel) I was interested in seeing White Haired Witch. The film stars Fan Bingbing, which probably explains why the film was fairly successful because the movie itself, while beautiful to look at, is a narrative mess. Apparently the script does more closely follow the original source material, Liang Yusheng’s novel Baifa MonĂĽ Zhuan, than Yu’s version did, but that only makes the story more confusing that it should be. A Blu-ray release of Yu’s film would be more appreciated.

Older films getting new releases include the 30th Anniversary Edition of John Hughes’ coming-of-age The Breakfast Club, as well asThe Sound of Music: 50th Anniversary Edition that was teased at this year’s Academy Awards with a performance by Lady Gaga and the Criterion Collection’s release of Fran?ois Truffaut’s underappreciated 1964 romantic drama The Soft Skin

Top 3 Blu-ray movies for every high-def fan must own

Summary: We've covered our favorite Blu-ray discs and our favorite special features, so I think it’s time to take a look at some of the latest Blu-rays on the market.

Top 1. Game of Thrones: The Complete Fourth Season

HBO | 2014 | Season 4 | 560 min | Rated TV-MA | Feb 17, 2015 (1 Week)
TV show rating: ***** 9.3

Game of Thrones: The Complete Fourth Season

"They can never be tamed. Not even by their mother."

Game of Thrones loves nothing more than to remind its fans they're watching Game of Thrones. Blood. Betrayal. Death. Murder most foul. No matter how many times the series shocks me, no matter how deeply a twist resonates, no matter how often I'm left stunned, heartbroken or profoundly unsettled, showrunners David Benioff & D.B. Weiss and author/co-executive producer George R.R. Martin manage to lull me into a false sense of security. Every. Single. Time. After the infamous Red Wedding, I swore I'd never again forget I was watching Game of Thrones. That I'd never forget how cruel and unpredictable the Seven Kingdoms can be. Wouldn't you know it, though, two episodes into Season Four, there I was again: wide-eyed, my jaw unhinged, my mind scrambling to convene order. Alright, a clear, weary thought stammered. Next time will be different. Next time I'll be ready. Besides, I have an entire season to brace for the worst.

Top 2. Downton Abbey: Season 5 Blu-ray

Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey | Original UK Edition
PBS | 2014 | Season 5 | 533 min | Not rated | Jan 27, 2015
TV show rating: **** 8.5

Downton Abbey-Season 5 Blu-ray

"Downton Abbey: Season 4" was met with enormous hostility by fans and critics. Spending three seasons tracking the emotionally chilled antics of the Crawley Family, emphasizing decorum, hushed rumor, and the occasional dramatic flare-up, the show suddenly downshifted into more manipulative scripting from creator Julian Fellowes, with a subplot featuring sexual assault identified as particularly irksome to those already deep into the English fantasy. "Season 5" sets out to rebuild what was lost, largely eschewing dire events and horrifying violence to restore a bit of the old energy that's been lost to practice and time. In fact, "Season 5" is determined to poke sunshine through the clouds, even opening the first episode with a joke.

The War film has undergone quite the evolution over the years. While the classic anti-war film has been a hallmark throughout the cinema experience -- films like 1930's All Quiet on the Western Front are regarded as classics and speak decidedly against the ugliness of war -- there's been a clearly defined arc in the general flow of cinema history that has seen the War movie evolve in spirit and tone. The post-war era brought with it a collection of movies that showed a spirited patriotism that didn't exactly cheer on war but that gave it something of a more glorious, gung-ho, rah-rah, sort of mass appeal, not to mention a "clean" and "watered down" depiction of war, understandable in the wake of the bloodiest war the world had ever seen. Following the Vietnam conflict, filmmakers like Oliver Stone and Stanley Kubrick positioned their cameras to depict war as a negative to both the individual and to the greater human condition, an unsurprising turn of events considering the cultural shift of the 1960s and the broad popular opposition to the conflict by its end in the 1970s.
